Short Trip to Sri Lanka

Following our summer vacation back to the US in July, we set up a trip to the Hambantota Shangri-La beach resort in Sri Lanka before returining to work.  The July trip home to see family went fine with no issues. After a one day rest day in Abu Dhabi we took the short (5 hrs) Etihad flight to Columbo in Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), followed by a 5 hour car ride to get to the Hambantota, on the Southeast part of the Island country.  This is a fairly isolated resort, with a golf course and close to a national park.  Please see the photos....

Unfortunately, our vacation was cut very short due to me going to a local hospital with pneumonia!  There was a story there all in itself with the day and half stay in a third world hospital, but we got back to Abu Dhabi as soon as possible and I recovered just fine, although I missed a week from work to help make that happen.  We would like to go back to the Hambantota to complete our vacation in the future.
